History

Plymouth Church has sought the heart of Seattle for over 100 years. Founded in 1869 by early settlers, we are the second oldest congregation in Seattle. Our downtown location has been ‘home’ since 1911, and we are committed to remaining here.

Our Current Location

As we survey years gone by, we see that the values our founders held have directly impacted the church body we’ve become today. Throughout Plymouth history, Plymouth members have faithfully offered their time, service and commitment to the greater community; they have been active in everything from school government to city politics, serving as mayor, city council members, school board members, and county and state judges.

Our city ministries reflect the diverse, caring hearts of our congregation. Today, they include Plymouth Healing Communities (providing companionship and housing for people living with mental illness); Shared Ministry (helping individuals discover and respond to God’s call); and commitments of time and treasure to many local groups in the church’s focus areas including children, youth and families at risk, housing and homeless, hunger and economic justice.
