Aug 31 Small Groups Forming in September

Companions in Christ

We invite you to become part of Companions in Christ, a powerfully transforming small-group journey that focuses on deepening your relationship with God.  Through daily readings, reflection, and weekly meetings, you will be guided in exploring prayer, scripture, vocation, and spiritual friendship as avenues to deepen your faith.  We promise that it will make a difference in your life!  The group will meet Wednesday mornings at the church from 10 a.m. to noon beginning October 1 through May with a cost of $30 for books and supplies.   For more information or to register your interest, call facilitators Rosemary Hashimoto (206-525-0415) or Phyllis Daniels (206-721-2321).

Book Discussion – Everything Must Change:  Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of Hope by Brian McLaren

Brian McLaren, acclaimed author and emergent church leader, believes that Christianity is a failed religion for many because it does not address the dominant societal and global realities of our lifetime:  systemic injustice, poverty, and dysfunction.  Don Bell and Jennifer Castle will lead a nine session discussion on the ideas brought forth in McLaren’s book and what they mean for our church community.  The group will meet for dinner at the church on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 with discussion from 7:15 to 8:45 beginning September 25.  Cost is $15 for the book.  For more information or to register your interest, call Jennifer Castle in the church office or email her at jcastle@plymouthchurchseattle.org.

Covenant Groups

Plymouth will again be forming Covenant Groups this fall.  Covenant groups are made up of eight to twelve people interested in connection to others in the church community.  The groups meet once or twice a month throughout the year and often focus on deepening relationship to God and each other through prayer and study.  For more information or to register your interest, please contact David Shinn in the church office or email him at dshinn@plymouthchurchseattle.org.

You are welcome to attend an orientation for Companions, Book Study and Covenant Groups on Sunday, September 21 at 12:15 p.m. in Room 321 or Wednesday evening, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the church lounge.

Aug 16 Caring for Aging Parents

Are you caring for aging parents – either here in town or at a distance?  On Sunday, September 14, Susan Dittig, Parish Nurse, is holding a mini-workshop about resources and helpful tips.  Come to room 111 from 10-11 am or after the 11 am service. Can’t come that morning but would like to talk to someone about your aging parents?  Contact Susan at 206-622-4865 or   sdittig@plymouthchurchseattle.org.  She is also interested in hearing from members who would like to gather for support and information around how we care for our parents.
